[edit] Window Manager

Slax comes with the popular KDE window manager by default. Tiny Core Linux comes with the relatively obscure FLWM window manager by default.

[edit] Wireless Internet Compatibility

Tiny Core Linux and Slax repositories include a number of modules that can provide for good compatibility with a variety of wireless network cards. Tiny Core is not well-suited to installing on a machine that doesn't initially have a WIRED internet connection, because an internet connection is needed in order to download software to set up wireless internet connections. Slax allows you to select wireless internet compatibility software when "building" a basic Slax system for download.

[edit] Memory Required

Tiny Core Linux requires a smaller amount of memory. Slax is generally suitable only for machines with 256MB ram or more. 128MB is plenty for Tiny Core.

[edit] Disk Space

Tiny Core Linux requires 10MB at a bare minimum, but closer to 100MB of space if you want it to have a web browser, spreadsheet program, word processor, and image editor. By default, Slax includes many full-featured apps but requires 200MB of space. Both can be set up to use this space on either a USB "pendrive" or a hard drive.
