The N900 and N97 are smartphones made by Nokia that feature a touchscreen display and full keyboard.

The N900 outperforms the N97 on nearly every aspect. The N900 has a faster processor (600MHZ OPM) than the N97 (434MHZ ARM). The N900 also boasts more memory (256MB) than the N97 (128MB). Along with having double the physical memory, the N900 also supports virtual memory up to 768MB; the N97 is expected to receive a firmware upgrade that allows virtual memory as well.

Probably the biggest differentiator between the two phones is the presence of a graphics card in the N900, which brings its spec up to par with the iPhone. The graphics card will allow the N900 to perform 3D rendering, animations, and video playback much more smoothly than the N97. The N900 also has a higher resolution (800 x 480) screen, although the screen size is identical (3.5").

The N900 and N97 have similar dimensions, the N900 being slightly bulkier.

The N97 has a longer battery life.

The N97 runs the Symbian S60 v5 Operating System. The N900 runs Maemo v5, which is a Linux-based operating system for mobile phones.

The Maemo Operating System has support for CJK input and output.
