The Mouse and Touchpad are computer peripheral devices used to control the mouse cursor on the screen.

[edit] Usage

  • You use the Mouse by moving it around. Clicking happens by gently tapping the Mouse Buttons. On most Mice, they are situated underneath the user's fingertips. If the Mouse has a Scroll Wheel, you can scroll by turning it with a finger. (vertically) Some Mice can also flip the Scrollwheel to the side a bit. (horizontally)
  • You use the Touchpad by touching it with a finger or thumb. Clicking happens by pressing the related buttons around it or – if configured – by gently tapping the Touchpad itself. Scrolling, on most Touchpads, is done by tipping and dragging on the left edge (vertically) or the bottom edge (horizontally) of the Touchpad.

[edit] Customization

  • Drivers for some Mice deliver functional customization of each Button and Scrollwheel. Also, you can sometimes customize the look of the Mouse by replacing it's shell.
  • Drivers for the most Touchpads deliver a huge amount of possible customizations. E.g. Scrolling Areas, Thresholds for Movings, Avoiding control by hand palms, Gestures and more.
