Boot times vary depending on system specs and boot configuration. Both are good in terms of "it just works" with no complex configuration required.

Lubuntu uses the .deb package format for adding software, while PCLinuxOS uses the .rpm packaging and apt-get for adding software.

PCLinuxOS LXDE is a rolling release while Lubuntu requires full upgrades or reinstallations every six months.
