Laptop vs Netbook
Contents |
[edit] Price
Netbooks are usually designed with low price in mind. So they may cost $300 USD or less when new. Laptops typically cost $400 USD or more, with the best features being available in laptops that cost $600 or more.
[edit] Features
Laptop computers usually include a CD/DVD drive. They may include DVD-burning capability. Laptops often have faster processors and more memory. So they may be more suitable for running many programs at once, or running games with complex graphics. Laptops also have a full size keyboard, whereas netbooks generally have smaller keyboards. Many people may have issues typing comfortably on a netbook keyboard.
[edit] Portability
Netbooks are easier to carry. Users who find laptops to be too heavy, to cause back pain when carrying to many things, etc, may find that a netbook is what they want. Many netbooks have a Solid State Disk (SSD), which means that carrying the netbook in a way that bumps it around will still not result in a broken hard drive.
[edit] Energy Use
Netbooks generally use less electricity. Smaller screen size is one reason for this, but a slower processor designed with efficiency in mind (still plenty fast for using an internet browser) is another reason. Netbooks that include a solid state disk (SSD) save a little bit more energy.
[edit] Similarities
Netbooks and Laptops are both suitable for browsing the internet and doing word processing. Games like Sudoku will run equally well on either.
